This free service has been developed with the idea of making mobile phone applications (what we popularly know as "apps") available on most mobile phones in India. With a population of 800 million mobile phone users in the country, the number of smart phone users form a fractional percentage of the total. This application will turn any basic multimedia phone with a browser into a smart phone.
All that a user requires is an active GPRS connection on his phone. (Most service providers offer monthly GPRS packs for under Rs.100) The user will be loaded with a sea of exciting as well as really useful applications. From checking stock prices to flight status, from searching for any song to the meaning of any word, from keeping up with the latest tweets from your favourite celebs to keeping up with the latest sports scores, the service promises to empower the user with an enriched experience like truly never before. And what’s best, you don't need to have a smart phone to do all this.
You don't need a smart phone to read an encyclopedia! You don't need a smart phone to keep up with the latest news on corruption scandals! You don't need a smart phone to look up movie timings in your city! You don't need a smart phone to read reviews of films, restaurants or products... All you need is ''A Phone'' with an active GPRS to change the way you interact with the world.
Even the top of the line phones today have screen sizes of around 3.2 inches on an average. Browsing the internet on such phones requires you to painfully scroll all the time. The entire media and content made available through this service is formatted to suit your screen size and the technical capabilities of even the most basic multimedia phones. With newer phones being rolled out rapidly and further versions being released by the service, the user experience will only get better.
At launch, insta7 will have 18 pre-loaded apps on its home screen and 8 additional apps in the insta7 app store. The user has the ability to add or remove apps and customize his insta7 home screen to suit his needs.
The going ahead will see the release of more and more new exciting apps. Subsequently, the service will open up the platform to app developers where they can submit their apps and monetize them.
